Nairobi residents can join several organised runs and walks in Karura Forest and Uhuru Park over the next month.

The Nairobi Wellness Collective has scheduled three community fitness events for July and August, starting with a 5km fun run on 20 July at Karura Forest.
Interest in group exercise has grown since the start of the year, as more office workers in Westlands and Kilimani seek regular outdoor activity to offset long desk hours and traffic commutes.
The 20 July fun run begins at 7am from the Karura Forest main gate on Limuru Road and finishes at the KWS headquarters inside the reserve. A separate charity walk organised by the Aga Khan Hospital wellness programme will take place on 3 August along Uhuru Park paths, with all proceeds supporting community health outreach in Mathare. Both events tie into Nairobi’s established running culture that already draws daily groups to the forest trails and the park’s open fields.
Entry for the July run costs 800 Kenyan shillings online and 1,000 shillings on the day, while the August charity walk charges a flat 500 shillings with an optional 300-shilling donation. Last year the same organisers recorded 1,850 participants across three similar events, according to their post-event report filed with the Nairobi County sports office.
Registration for both events closes on 15 July through the Nairobi Wellness Collective website or at the Aga Khan Hospital outpatient desk on 3rd Parklands Avenue. Participants are advised to arrive 30 minutes early, carry water and wear reflective clothing for early-morning starts. Those with existing medical conditions should consult their doctor at a local facility before taking part.
